Infinite Inventory
The term Infinite Inventory is used to refer to items for which traditional inventory tracking and management processes do not apply. Unlike regular items, where inventory levels are meticulously recorded and monitored across various nodes or locations within a network, Infinite Inventory operates on a different premise.
For an item that has Infinite Inventory, OneTruth does not actively track or manage the stock levels across all nodes in the network, or even across specific selected nodes. Instead, OneTruth assumes that the item is always available in the inventory, regardless of the actual quantity present.
This concept is particularly relevant for certain types of items or situations where tracking individual units becomes impractical, unnecessary, or even impossible. The following are some scenarios where Infinite Inventory might be applicable:
Digital Items: Items such as e-books, electronic gift cards, software licenses, or streaming content often fall under this category. Since they are intangible, there is no need to track physical quantities.
Virtual Goods in Gaming: In online gaming, virtual items, skins, or currency often fall under this category. These items can be created or acquired virtually without the constraints of physical supply.
Gift Wrapping Material: Items such as gift bags, wrapping paper, ribbons, and bows are typically considered to have Infinite Inventory. They are readily available for use and are not tracked on an individual basis.
Warranty Cards: Items such as warranty cards or certificates that accompany certain items are often considered to have Infinite Inventory. These cards are typically not tracked as physical inventory items, but rather as a part of the item purchase.
