Thresholds
Thresholds are pre-defined levels set in OneTruth that trigger alerts or notifications to enterprises when the availability of an item reaches a certain level. These thresholds can be configured to indicate when an item is available, nearing depletion, has reached the minimum level, or needs to be replenished.
Thresholds track your inventory changes at every sale but don't send you a message every time the demand or supply changes. The system sends you a message only when your inventory has crossed a certain threshold that you have set. This ensures a balanced load on the system and your website.
For example, an enterprise that sells shoes, may set the high threshold value as 30 units, medium threshold value as 15 units, and low threshold value as 5 units. When the availability of the shoes reaches 4 units, that is when the availability goes below the low threshold level, then OneTruth publishes a message notifying the enterprise that the stock is nearing depletion and needs to be replenished. Based on this message, the enterprise may update the availability status of the shoes on their website to “Limited Stock”.
Similarly, if the availability of the shoes reaches 5 units or more, that is, the availability goes above the medium or high threshold level, then OneTruth publishes a message notifying the enterprise that the availability has crossed the medium or high threshold. Based on this message, the enterprise may update the availability status of the shoes on their website and not show the message "Limited Stock".
When a threshold is triggered, enterprises can take appropriate action to ensure that they can fulfill customer orders on time. For example, if a threshold is set to notify when the availability of an item reaches a minimum level, the enterprise can order more of the item from the supplier to avoid the risk of running out of stock.
Currently, OneTruth allows users to set thresholds at High, Medium, and Low levels. An event is published when the inventory availability reaches, exceeds, or falls below any of these thresholds. This mechanism, known as threshold publishing, ensures that the system generates an event or message for external systems to consume whenever inventory levels cross these predefined boundaries.
