Supply

Supply is the quantity of goods or items available within the enterprise’s network to fulfill customer demand. It represents the enterprise’s inventory at any given point, encompassing the various stages of its lifecycle. A comprehensive understanding of supply is crucial for businesses to maintain optimal inventory levels, ensure seamless operations, and meet customer demand effectively.

Supply is not a static concept; rather, it is a dynamic and multi-faceted concept that evolves through different phases. These phases, referred to as supply buckets in OneTruth, highlight the progression of inventory from procurement to customer availability, or inventory that will be available to sell in the future to inventory that is currently residing within the four walls of the facility and is available to sell.

OneTruth can track changes in the supply life cycle, starting from Purchase Order (PO) creation, Advance Shipment Notice (ASN) creation, In Transit, until [On Hand] when the inventory is available to sell to customers at a node.

By monitoring these changes, OneTruth can utilize the data to predict and track future supply, ensuring a better understanding of inventory availability. In addition to its capability to track the supply life cycle changes, OneTruth can process bulk supply feeds, offering flexibility beyond full sync and delta sync feeds.

The following are some of the most common supply buckets that are available in OneTruth:

Purchase Order Created: Enterprises place a purchase order (PO) or a supply order for items with a vendor. Any order created for the incoming inventory to a facility may fall under the “Purchase Order Created” supply bucket. For example, when a purchase order is created for a vendor to supply an item.

A transfer order created to transfer inventory from a facility, such as a distribution center (DC), to another facility, such as a store, may also fall under the “Purchase Order Created” supply bucket.

In Transit: Items that are in the process of being transported from the vendors to the enterprises. Once an advance shipment notice (ASN) is created for an incoming order (purchase order or transfer order), the supply moves from the “Purchase Order Created“ to the “In Transit“ supply bucket. This supply is a dependable source that can be used to promise against future demand.

On Hand: The quantity of inventory that is available to sell or ready to sell to customers at a node. Any inventory within the four walls of a facility can be considered as “On Hand”. There can be further supply buckets to represent the different states of inventory in the facility, such as “On Dock” and “Pending Quality Check (QC)”.

Note: OneTruth provides enterprises the ability to configure different supply types based on their business use cases.
